Answer with a reaction when a word is too much. Reply to a specific message so the thread stays readable. Sent something wrong? Edit it in place and everyone sees the corrected version, marked as edited.

Every message carries a delivery state: sent, delivered, read. In a group, see who has read it and when.
Mentions
Type @ and pick a name. The person is notified even when the group is muted. The rest of the group stays quiet.

Set a timer on a chat and messages remove themselves after it runs out, on every device. The timer is part of the chat, so everyone in it sees the same rule and the same countdown.
